On Tuesday an army spokesman told the press, that Idriss Déby, long-time president of Chad died as a result of his wounds sustained on the “front line”. His son Mahamat Idriss Déby will probably take over as president. In the next 18 months, a traditional military council will take control.

The rebels were searching for Deby since 2016. They moved southwards to as they say “liberate” those regions.
